San Francisco

Mr Travelmista had to be in SFO for a conference so I tagged along with him. He is in pursuit of the 1K from United so he of course flew United while I choose Delta because the reduced fare. Our flights left within the hour of each other from MSN (our home airport) We don't necessary fly together because of our points pursuit, talk about dedication. 🙂 In fact if I try to fly with Travelmista he usually gets upgraded to biz or first class and I fly back in coach by myself anyway so what is the point. Mr Travelmista has premier platinum on united. (He missed 1K last year by 14,000 miles very sore subject to him) I don't have any status on any airline as I typically fly on points.

While in SFO we went to Beach Blanket Babylon. I had heard about the show and really wanted to see it. The costumes were great especially the hats and it was very funny but I was really tired so I might have fallen asleep during a portion of it. It was easy to get to and we were able to get discounted tickets. There is a lot of current political humor that made the show very enjoyable. (http://www.beachblanketbabylon.com/ )

They next day I was by myself so I went to the Walt Disney Museum. (http://waltdisney.com/)  It is located in the Presidio of San Francisco by the map it looks like it would be easy to get to but the buses were not accommodating. Even though the route said it would take you there multiple buses made you get off and wait for the one bus that went out that way. Very annoying for a tourist! The museum was nice not great some parts were a little boring. Don't think this is a place for children just adults and for that matter maybe only for Disney lover adults. There is lots of history about Walt Disney's life and how he ended up becoming a legend. Make sure to give yourself enough time not only to get there but to explore the entire Museum. The cost is $20 for adults, Children 6-17 is $12 and free under the age of 6.

Map on how to get to Walt Disney Museum using the SFO bus system.

I also convince Mr Travelmista to join me on a sunset boat cruse under Golden Gate Bridge. He has been to SFO multiple times but is always working so it is nice when he actually gets to explore the city. The boat cruise was not inexpensive it was $25 per person. It is good to do once but don't think I would do it again. Make sure you bring a jacket because it can get quite windy and cold on the water.

I also had time to visit with a friend in Mountain View and go to Muir woods. I remember watching the food network on the top grilled cheese being in Muir woods. I had to try it but I must report that it was not as spectacular as they were making it out to be. Now don't get me wrong it was good but not the best in the world. I should know… I come from the land of cheese (aka Wisconsin) The scenery was beautiful in Muir woods but nothing would compare to what we were going to see in Yosemite! Next Trip report is Yosemite.
